Overview:
When The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir approached us to produce a new documentary titled The Rescue, we immediately recognized the significance and potential reach of the project. Renowned for their global worship ministry, the church was preparing to tell a different kind of story—one rooted in raw, personal testimony and the redemptive power of the Gospel.
Our team was honored to lead the full production process—from story development and pre-production through filming, editing, and final delivery. The Rescue went on to air on major national networks including BET, FOX, the Oxygen Network, and The Word Network, reaching audiences across the country through both digital and DVD distribution.
The Vision:
At its core, The Rescue tells the true stories of five individuals from vastly different backgrounds—a Wall Street broker, a party girl, a religious extremist, a drug addict, and a hardened thug—each navigating personal struggles and finding radical transformation through the power of Jesus Christ.
From the outset, The Brooklyn Tabernacle made it clear this was not just a church project—it was a mission. The stories needed to feel cinematic, authentic, and accessible to people who may have never set foot in a church. That clarity of vision guided every creative and production choice we made.
Our Approach:
From story development through final delivery, our team guided every phase of production to bring the testimonies to life:
Story Mapping: We collaborated with the church to outline each testimony and its emotional narrative arc.
Interviews & Filming: We conducted in-depth interviews with each subject, capturing b-roll in personal locations and on a set designed to visually match the tone of their stories.
Cinematography: Using cinematic lighting, textured backgrounds, and stylized b-roll, we reflected both the pain of their pasts and the beauty of their transformation.
Post-Production: We wove the individual stories together with powerful music, pacing, and visuals to create a cohesive documentary that resonated across generations.
Deliverables: In addition to the full-length hour version, we produced a 30-minute TV cut and social media clips to support online promotion.
Results:
The Rescue premiered to widespread broadcast coverage in major U.S. markets, airing on networks including BET, the Oxygen Network, and FOX affiliates in New York and Los Angeles. Viewers responded with overwhelmingly positive feedback, many sharing how deeply the stories resonated with their own struggles.
More than a documentary, The Rescue became a tool for outreach, ministry, and healing—one that continues to be used in churches, small groups, and digital platforms across the country.
We’re proud to have been part of a project where craft, mission, and message came together in the most meaningful way.
